Retrieving Bank Records
Your bank records are usually kept in the form of a bank statement. Your bank statement is the sheet of paper your bank provides you detailing the various deposits and expenditures from the past month (or other increment of time). Sometimes during legal proceedings it is necessary to produce past bank statements to verify the existence or non-existence of certain transactions.
The Houston court reporting specialists of Stratos Legal are experienced with successfully retrieving various records for legal proceedings. We are happy to track down and secure the physical records you need for your case, giving you time to focus on other matters. The Retrieval Process
Not all banks keep their financial records indefinitely. Some discard bank statements after a period of time, usually 5-10 years. Other banks will hold onto the financial records of their customers for longer.
In order to secure these records, a court order or subpoena will have to be presented asking for the surrender of the records in question. If the bank does not have the records, however, they may be impossible to get. After a subpoena has been presented, our associates will complete the necessary paperwork to expedite the delivery of your records. The bank will usually not release financial information over the phone.
After the delivery of the records, our company will spend time organizing, filing, and presenting your financial records. The entire process of retrieving financial statements usually takes about 5 weeks.
