Can I perform a background check without telling an employee?

In most cases, employers are legally required to inform an employee of their intent to perform a background check. Because of the nature of the information a background check can divulge, it is important that a person being investigated knows that it is happening. Federal law, however, does allow for employers to perform background checks in the event that they suspect criminal activity from an employee, and on a case by case basis.

For assistance in determining whether you might be able to conduct a background check, contact the experienced Houston court reporters of Stratos Legal by calling 800-971-1127 today.
